About Thomas Metzinger

Thomas Metzinger is the Director of the Philosophy Group at the Department of Philosophy at Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz, and he is the co-founder of the Association for the Scientific Study of Consciousness. His research focuses on philosophy of mind, especially on consciousness and the nature of the self. His books in English include The Ego Tunnel: The Science of the Mind and the Myth of the Self (2009), Basic Books; Being No One. The Self-Model Theory of Subjectivity (2003) MIT Press; and Neural Correlates of Consciousness – Empirical and Conceptual Questions (2000) MIT Press.
